Tennis Memphis Free Clinics - Dates: Various

NJTL Chapter

The National Tennis and Learning (NJTL) Network is an organization co-founded by Arthur Ashe, Charlie Pasarell, and Sheridan Snyder in 1969. Their vision was to utilize tennis as a vehicle to engage children and teach them about life as well as sports. The NJTL Network is supported by the USTA Foundation.

Tennis Memphis is a 4 star NJTL chapter. Our mission, “to build a better community and enhance lives through tennis and education,” is inspired by the mission of the NJTL. We work closely with our partners in the Memphis community to reach children who wouldn’t otherwise have the resources or opportunity to pursue tennis as a sport. Through programs such as Tennis and Tutoring (TNT), we also work to ensure that children have access to educational support and mentoring.

Free Clinics

Tennis Memphis offers free introductory clinics for adult and juniors at its tennis centers and three community centers (Ed Rice, Raleigh & Whitehaven Community Centers) two weekends each month. Players may bring their own racquet, or equipment is provided. Come out and learn the basics from our certified teaching pros! Reservation for free clinics are required and can be made by calling or signing up in person at Tennis Centers.

Camp Dream Street, MS is a five day, four night camping experience for children with physical disabilities. Our campers traditionally live in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Georgia and are able to attend the program entirely free of charge. Predominant diagnoses of our campers include cerebral palsy, spina bifida, limb deficiencies, spinal cord injury, communicative disorders and other developmental disabilities. Dream Street is open to campers of all racial, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. We are able to accept approximately sixty children each summer for the program.

Camp Dream Street, MS was founded in 1975 with the mission that all children, regardless of their abilities, must be offered the chance to have fun, to make new friends, to achieve, to be accepted for who and what they are, and to learn from the challenges of group life. Both the children and the staff at Camp Dream Street benefit from the life-changing experiences the camp has to offer. Dream Street is a place where children with physical disabilities are given the chance to be children - not "special" children, not children with disabilities, but just children.
